Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. Ninth Guru of the Sikhs.Sacrificed his life for the right of all people to practice their beliefs. Twenty two would be successors to Guru Harkriskan Sahib Ji set them selves up at village Bakala. Bhai Makan Shah who had prayed to the true Guru when his merchant ship was introuble of the coast of India arrived at Bakala, but which was the true Guru. Infornt of each he placed two gold pieces and bowed, each one accepted the offerings gladly thus proving themselves to be frauds. When all twenty two were done Bhai Ji became sad "i have not found my Guru" he thought. Some one told him there was another fakir who seldom came out of him small dwelling and meditated all day long. Bhai Makan went there, placed two gold pieces and bowed. Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji opened his eyes. "In your time of trouble you had promised to offer 500 gold peices and now you are trying to cajole me with two". At this Makan Shah became immensely happy running to the roof top and shouting "Guru laddo ray, Guru Laddo ray" (I have foud the true Guru). |
