Pundit Kirpa Ram and a deputation from Kashmir appeal to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji to save them from the Moghuls.

In 1671 the Governer of Kashmir had ordered that all Hindus be converted to Islam. Terrified, the Kashmiri Brahmins came to Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji.While Guru Ji was pondering over the threatening situation his young son Gobind Rai Ji approached him and said "O father, what are you thinking?" Guru ji said "The only remedy for this grave situation is for some man of god, some saintly person to give up his life to quench this fire of evil." Young Gobind Rai Ji replied " What House is greated then that of Guru Nanak, go help these people." Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was satisfied that his son had grown into a worthy successor to the Guruship of Guru Nanak. Guru Ji told the Brahmins "Go tell the Governer, Guru Tegh Bahadur the ninth Guru of the Sikhs, who is now seated on the throne of Guru Nanak is our protector of faith and religion. If you first convert him, then all shall follow, if you cannot, then all shall be freed."
